Science
For this lesson, I went into specific seasons with the students and we focused on Fall. I opened the lesson with a short video of all the seasons which gave the students a chance to get up and move around before the meat of the lesson began. I took my TA’s advice and had the students use their white boards to answer questions so that all of the students were involved in the question and answer part of the lesson. This seemed really effective and the students seemed actively engaged in the lesson because of it. I created a worksheet for this lesson which involved students identifying and colouring how a coniferous and deciduous tree would look in the season of Fall. They also were asked to dress an outline of a person for the weather of Fall and show what the weather may be like. After they had done all of their labeling and dressing they were allowed to use colour to finish off the assignment. The students seemed to like this project and they were able to use creatively which was fun for all of us.

For this lesson, I did predicting in writing which was a ton of fun. I read the story “Library Lion” to the students and stopped at the climax of the book, at this point students were required to finish the story using pictures and words. This required them to use creativity and work on their prediction skills which was a lot of fun to watch. I really enjoyed reading through their stories after they handed them back in. |
Math
For this lesson, we were working on skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s and there are a ton of fun videos and active ways to teach this. Right on Youtube there are several movement videos that have students out of their desks moving while counting in a way that if both fun and educational for them.
